Hello Everyone!

I'm Baaaacccckkkk! : )

Thanks for all of the great posts ... for sharing traveling chair stories ... and for your kind wishes about my friend, Gale!

I've missed being able to keep up on a day to day basis ... and boy, is it hard to catch up! I was on a really stressful show last week ... and went two days without even pulling my computer out! Then came home and worked on the website for the trip that Jackie and I are going on in February. And now - I am getting ready to go to south Florida for Thanksgiving ... but will have Internet access ... and should be able to catch up. I hope. : )

I saw my friend, Gale, today. We had a transformer blow at work - and our power was down from 9:30 a.m. until around 3pm. Some of us were planning to go visit Gale, at home ... but, because we couldn't work w/o power, ten of us picked up food and went and had lunch with Gale, and her husband. She was so happy to see us (she did know we were coming) ... and it was great to see her. She is walking very slowly - but doing well. Her tumor was cancerous - but they got it all ... and it was not, as they were concerned about, attached to any other organs. She will go through 6 mos. Chemo and maybe radiation. She has a wonderful attitude though ... and looks really good. Thanks to everyone - for your thoughts and prayers for Gale!

This time of year, for us in the states, is a time where we pause and remember all that we are thankful for. I'll be traveling to spend time with my parents, two sisters and brother and their families and friends. My younger son will be bringing his new fiance to meet my family. So we have much to be thankful for. What about you? What are you thankful for this season?

I'm thankful for so many wonderful new friends ... through this amazing Blogging technology. Thank you ... for being here ... and for all of the wonderful sharing that you bring to this Blog!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Lynn and Linda! So glad to be back - though only for a short time ... then off again. But for fun this time! : )

Thank you, Vanessa! Beautiful. Touching. Moving. Thank you for sharing.

Also - I just sent you an Email - responding to one you sent to me on the 13th - ha ha. Boy - have things been crazy for me! Hopefully, I'll be able to rest up when I'm down south. I am going to Homestead - where my two sisters live. My parents are coming down with their RV - and they will stay for part of the year down here (from their home in north Georgia). It will be so nice to be with family. Always. : )

In thanks,
Brenda

Hey girls!
Yep...I'm still here, just quietly observing. Right on Vanessa, putting your sobriety high on your list of things to be thankful for. You are an inspiration to me.
I've been manifesting some great things in my life including a job (selling furniture) which I start next week. In the meantime, everytime I run out of money I seem to find some material thing I can do without and sell it! It actually feels good to live simplistically. I'm attending an all day event Thanksgiving with a bunch of ex-drunks...how fun!
The weather is purrrrfect here in AZ and things are good in my world.

I posted a fun story about a day in my life on my blog for anyone interested.

Hi Bloggers and Bloggettes!

Good to see you Linda!! Sounds like you are doing well! Good for you!

Hey Babette! Thanks much! And yes - understand!! Maybe next time!! : )

Thanks Amy! And yes - I am sure that every little bit of prayer helps! I've never quite understood what it is that allows some people to remain positive - in the face of such a difficult situation ... but Gale and I have talked about it - and we don't either one know why we are that way ... but we are both very, very grateful that we are. Know what I mean?

Also - yes - I was worried about you with the Geezer/Jon thing. He is being a bit pushy with you. I think you are smart to be careful about that. If there is anything we can do to help - please let us know!

Thanks Lois! Gale and I were at our company 'University' this past July - and had our pic taken together (it is on my Click Girl's Photo Blog - at the bottom) - and Gale put her arm around me and told the guy taking the pic that we were 'Survivors' - and said, 'a family that we didn't ask to be in - but we are in great company'. I thought that was very meaningful ... because there are many of us. In fact, another gal in my office was diagnosed with Breast Cancer a few months after me - and we were talking this week - about not believing that our five year anniversaries were coming up. I was sharing with her about some new statistics that had come out - showing that making it to that five year mark shows a huge drop in recurrence rates. So - we were like - crossing fingers and knocking on wood (and, of course, we will both be praying real hard)! : )

By the way - Lois, I was wanting to send you an Email - but didn't see your Email. If you have a chance, would you please Email me at clickgirl50@hotmail.com ? Thanks much!

And yes - love those leftovers! : )

Well - I will be traveling tomorrow all day ... and will be with family ... so just want to wish everyone a very special Thanksgiving ... to those of us who celebrate that holiday! For those of you who don't - we'll let you join us in being thankful for the day!

Happy Thanksgiving! See you in 'a few'!

Welcome back Brenda. You must have brought everyone back to life.

Beliezegirl- You haven't been on so I don't know if I can e-mail you.

Read the following and the answer is - I might be against the war but I am VERY for this story and would have done the same myself, I hope. I am AGAINST THE WAR (and proud of it) but FOR THE TROOPS & hope they ALL come home soon. I was against the Vietnam war but don't remember being against the soldiers. Obviously they remember it differently. Let's not have this happen again. Happy Thanksgiving and the best to you and your family!! Ada

I sat in my seat of the Boeing 767 waiting for everyone to hurry and
stow their carry-ons and grab a seat so we could start what I was sure to
be a long, uneventful flight home.
With the huge capacity and slow moving people taking their time to
stuff luggage far too big for the overhead and never paying much attention
to holding up the growing line behind them, I simply shook my head
knowing that this flight was not starting out very well. I was anxious to
get home to see my loved ones so I was focused on my issues and just felt
like standing up and yelling for some of these clowns to get their act
together.
I knew I couldn't say a word so I just thumbed thru the "Sky Mall"
magazine from the seat pocket in front of me. You know it's really
getting rough when you resort to the over priced, useless sky mall crap to
break the monotony.

With everyone finally seated, we just sat there with the cabin door
open and no one in any hurry to get us going although we were well past the
scheduled take off time. No wonder the airline industry is in trouble I told myself.
Just then, the attendant came on the intercom to inform us all that we
were being delayed. The entire plane let out a collective groan.
She resumed speaking to say "We are holding the aircraft for some very
special people who are on their way to the plane and the delay shouldn't be
more than 5 minutes.

The word came after waiting six times as long as we were promised that
I was finally going to be on my way home. Why the hoopla over "these"folks?
I was expecting some celebrity or sport figure to be the reason for the hold up ...
Just get their butts in a seat and let's hit the gas I thought. The attendant came back
on the speaker to announce in a loud and excited voice that we were being joined by
several U.S. Marines returning home from Iraq !!!

Just as they walked on board, the entire plane erupted into applause. The men were a
bit taken by surprise by the 340 people cheering for them as they searched for their seats.
They were having their hands shook and touched by almost everyone who
was within an arm's distance of them as they passed down the aisle. One
elderly woman kissed the hand of one of the Marines as he passed by her.
The applause, whistles and cheering didn't stop for a long time.

When we were finally airborne, I was not the only civilian checking
his conscience as to the delays in "me" getting home, finding my easy
chair, a cold beverage and the remote in my hand. These men had done for all of us
and I had been complaining silently about "me" and "my" issues I took for granted the
everyday freedoms I enjoy and the conveniences of the American way of life.
I took for granted that others had paid the price for my ability to moan and complain
about a few minutes delay to "me" while those Heroes were going home to their loved ones.

I attempted to get my selfish outlook back in order and minutes before
we landed, I suggested to the attendant that she announce over the speaker
a request for everyone to remain in their seats until our heroes were
allowed to gather their things and be first off the plane.

The cheers and applause continued until the last Marine stepped off
and we all rose to go about our too often taken for granted everyday
freedoms. I felt proud of them.I felt it an honor and a privilege to be among the first
to welcome them home and say "Thank You for a job well done."

I vowed that I will never forget that flight nor the lesson learned. I can't say it enough,
THANK YOU to those Veterans and active servicemen and women who may read
this and a prayer for those who cannot because they are no longer with us.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
WELCOME HOME! AND THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!!!!
HAPPY THANKGIVING TO ALL!!!!

Thanks Ada! A good reminder - of another thing to be thankful of. I, too, was against the war (especially since they were sending my son to help start it) ... but I was also for the soldiers (who are just 'doing their job'). My son had finished his regular duty (three years +) - and had served his country by sitting on the border in South Korea - 24 hour combat ready status/hardship tour ... and then in Washingon State - during/after 9/11 - where he was trained as a firefighter - to help in Washington, Oregon and CA - while many of their firefighters went to help in NY. When he continued on - in the National Guard - he was told they hadn't been to war since WWII - and he said he would only be sent out in the state of Florida - and he wanted to be able to help after Hurricanes and disasters - as part of his humanitarian nature. We never thought he would have to go to war - at that point.

But - he went, he experienced, he survived, he grew ... and thank God, he is home. Chris (and his new fiance, Carey) - will be joining my family this holiday weekend ... and we will celebrate, once again, his homecoming. We have much to be thankful for!

I'm heading out for Homestead soon! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Thankfully,
Brenda

P.S. After re-reading that - I was reminded of one of Christopher's buddys - who did not make it home. Please keep in your thoughts - Annie Wershow and her family. They lost their son, Jeffrey Wershow - in Baghdad. Jeffrey was on an escort mission to protect dignitaries who were in meetings the Baghdad U. - when he was shot in the back of the head. Chris was on the scene within minutes - and was one of the soldiers assigned to try to find the shooter. Jeffrey was the same age as Chris - and they were both still in college when they went over. I often think of Jeffrey's mom - especially on holidays - and I have often sent her notes - to let her know that Jeffrey is not forgotten. If you would like to know more about Jeffrey, or write a note to his Mom or family, here are a few links - that tell about Jeffrey ... and about what their group experienced in Iraq. They were 'the forgotten soldiers':
http://www.ngb.army.mil/news/story.asp?id=1036

http://www.militarycity.com/valor/256776.html

I have the vid footage of Jeffrey planting the US and FL flag on the berm that paved the way for Special Forces entry from Jordan into Iraq - and every time I see it, I am so moved. Jeffrey told the guys that when people saw the footage - he wanted them to know that it was 'The Florida Boys' who paved the way. Annie Wershow presented that same flag to Christopher's Battalion - when they returned home from Iraq. Was so moving - that she came to be a part of their welcome home ceremony - despite her horrible loss.

TODAY - BE THANKFUL FOR JEFFREY ... that his young life touched so many.

INSTALLING LOVE

Tech Support: Yes, how can I help you?

Customer: Well, after much consideration, I've decided to install Love. Can you guide me though the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I'm not very technical, but I think I'm ready. What do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now. Is it okay to install Love while they are running?

Tech Support: What programs are running?

Customer: Let's see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge and Resentment running right now.

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually override Low Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High Self-Esteem. However, you have to completely turn off Grudge and Resentment. Those programs prevent Love from being properly installed. Can you turn those off?

Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke Forgiveness. Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and Resentment have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops! I have an error message already. It says, "Error - Program not run on external components ." What should I do?

Tech Support: Don't worry. It means that the Love program is set up to run on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In non-technical terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself before you can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support: Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the following files: Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge your Limitations.

Customer: Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the "My Heart" directory. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty programming. Also, you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all directories
and empty your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files. Smile is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copying themselves all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes a while, but eventually everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed and running. One more thing before we hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everyone you meet. They will in turn share it with others and return some cool modules back to you.

Customer: Thank you, God.

Jah Greetings to Everyone,

A bit late to post my thanks, but here goes anyway.

Thanks to Brenda for opening up this page of things to be thankful for and being the positive and caring individual that she always is.

Thanks to everyone of you that I have met on the blogs for always making me feel welcome and allowing me to share with you in this experience.

Thanks to my family, friends and co-workers for seeing me through the days and nights of my daily life.

With 3 more days before the hurricane season officially closes, I am thankful for having survived this one unscathed.

Thanks to God for giving me health and strength to cope with my daily life.

And lastly, thanks for life. I am here to say that I am glad to be alive and I look forward to each and every day. Growing old is suddenly not so scary anymore. In fact, I look forward to the unexpected events to be encountered around each and every curve and bend of the road I am traveling down.

Thankfully yours,
Enid

I am especially thankful that the Australia trip is now confirmed for March 7--April 11, 2006.

Now, I am in the process of trying to schedule a 12-cruise from Sydney, New Zeland, Tasmania back to Sydney during that time.

Anyone have suggestions?

Anonymous said...

Neva, - We did both islands of NZ & I'm not sure I could choose between the 2. Are you going to both? It was 2nd trip Down Under so we did NZ. There is so much to see & things are so far apart, would you consider doing separate trips? Just realized I should ask where are you starting from? I still have not been to western Oz. Is that on your itinerary? These places are just so special. If you have any specific questions maybe I can answer better. I am sick at the moment so if I seem rambly please excuse.

Watts on your mind? said...

Ada

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Starting point is Sydney. This is my second trip also. Last trip went to Cairns, Mt. Coolum, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.

The cruise I am currently looking at goes Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Flordland NP, Dunedin, Christchurch, Tauranga and Auckland and back to Sydney in 12 days. I will be there from March 7--April ll.

I have not been to Ayers Rock, Adelaide nor Perth.

My main goal this trip is Hobart Tasmania and New Zealand, but might go west in Australia if there is time and I can get reasonable airfare.

Want to wish safe travels to all of those gals heading out to Chicago for the B'Day Party. Sounds like such fun ... and I wish I could join everyone. It seems like it will be great fun!

Hope everyone had a good holiday. I did. Don’t want to be a downer but on Insider Edition (everyone needs some trash in their lives) tonight they had a segment about rape, sex abuse,& inappropriate behavior (one women actually sued) of single women by cruise personnel. Just FYI.

Yes, Happy B-Day to the Chi bunch. Would love to join you but I have to be in Chi. for a wedding in April so will go back then. I will post & maybe there can be a 2nd reunion.

Nice talking to you Neva.

Okay, back to real time although this month is never real.

Sorry to come back on but I have now received about 1/2 a dozen "Know your friends" e-mail. I understand there is some value in this but if you come to visit me, I will ask you what you eat. Besides having to look this up in old e-mails will be a pain. I hate to be pissy ass but please don't send me any more of these things. This leads me to my Ada's E-MAILING ETTIQUETTE RULES
This is not for everybody. Skip for those to whom it doesn't apply. If you don't want to follow the rules it is o.k. but then take me off your list. These are rules that everyone agrees with when I speak to them yet many disregard when they e-mail me. If you are taking me off the list please let me know & I will then do the same, if you wish. No hard feelings.

DO NOT SEND ME E-MAILS THAT GIVE ME X # OF PEOPLE OR A DEADLINE TO SEND THEM ON OR ELSE THERE WILL BE DEVISTATION &/OR THE BEST THINGS WILL HAPPEN TO ME. SOMETIMES THESE E-MAILS ARE VERY NICE. JUST DELETE THOSE PARTS TELLING ME WHAT TO DO. If I like them I will send them on. You don't have to tell me. This leads to the next rule:

CUT & PASTE. DON'T JUST FORWARD. If you don't know how to do this I will teach you. People should not have to scroll down through all your junk to read what you are sending them. This leads to the next 2 rules:

BCC. It is a safety feature not to send everyone on your list the e-mail of everyone on your list. Again, I will teach you if you don't know how.

ATTACHMENTS. COPY & PASTE. If you just forward attachments, the receipient has to click through each time that forward has been sent. That's often why people think they have not received something. I admit I sometimes do this but it is usally on photos etc. because I am afraid it will not go thru properly.

SUBJECT. Be specific about the subject, letter, humor, joke. FW does not tell the person what it is until they open it & it looks like everything else you have sent. (i.e. menopause info, Santa joke, letter to President). Some people also put warnings (rated R,) or comments (sad). This is not necessary but it is considerate.

I try to send things only to people for whom it applies. Mass e-mails are too impersonal & everyone's time is valuable to them.
Thanks

Thanks Cathy! Can't wait to see the pics ... but we will at least wait for you to arrive on the scene (ha ha)!! I do SO remember on-site in Chi-Town ... that we were being pressed to send pics and info ... before we even got there! : ) Too funny! Ya'll have a wonderful time! I'm going to be so missing being there. I even looked at my schedule again - to see if I could work it out - but I just took off most of last week and have lots of catching up to do. I have two shows, 1 multi-media project and five videos to do by mid-February!! Yikes!! I am going to be busy, busy, busy!!

Ada - you crack me up ... but I very much appreciate what you wrote about the Email stuff. I get so much - that it is hard to make it through all of it - and do justice to everyone. I follow most of your rules as well - and, as you say, it is very courteous to do it the way that you suggest. So - good for you! Thanks much!!

Well ... I had a long day. Got up early and headed out at 7:30. It was raining and the traffic was gridlocked. I tried to head to Starbucks, on my way to a site visit for a vid that we are shooting this coming Thursday. The traffic was so bad - that I gave up and headed towards the Bridge. At 8:30 (when I was supposed to be at the location), I called the other Producer and told her that I hadn't even left my area yet. She said she would handle it - and I headed back to Starbucks. After 9 a.m. (1 1/2 hours later) - I finally arrived at work - 2.2 miles from my home. It took my boss three hours to get from Orlando to our office (normally a 1 1/2 hour long trip). What a day!! Temps are supposed to drop to 60's and blue skies are due over the next couple of days. And we really needed the rain - so I can't really complain. But - it was a bit humorous to drive around so much - and take so long to get to work. But - I did get my Starbucks (Chai Latte's)! : )

Everyone take care. Will touch back in later.

P.S. Now I am going to have to search for this wonderful interactive Labyrinth that I received once. It is very cool - and I know several people were mentioning Labyrinths a while back - but I didn't have time to respond. So ... that will be a little task for me this week. : )

Ada, You send out a lot of e-mails yourself so don't forget to take your own advice.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous – if you will not hide, but give your name as I ask, I will take you off my list. Thus, I don’t know what you mean by “take my own advice.”

Ellen – I am giving you instructions but if they are not clear, let me know. Don’t give up on either of us. Hope this helps.

Place your cursor at beginning or end of what you want to copy & paste (C&P) & move it along so that you cover all that you want to C&P. It will be highlighted (thus you can check that all is covered). Now there are 2 ways to do this. I will give you only one. If you get it & want the 2nd, let me know.

Hit the CTRL key + the “c” key. Then place your cursor where you want to put the copied info. This can be on a different document completely. The highlighted area will get “unhighlighted”, don’t worry. Hit CTRL key + the “v” key. Voila, it should appear.
If instead of copying, you want to delete the info, after you have highlighted it, instead of the CTRL key + the “c” key, hit CTRL key + the “x” key. It will disappear. To put it somewhere else: hit CTRL key + the “v” key. Voila, it should appear.

Ellen, since I can’t post on the RR blog, I would appreciate your posting for me on his blog. This way you can practice the above method. “To you 3 –
!BUEN VIAJE! – I know it should be Portuguese, but Spanish is the closest I can come & it is probably similar. Ada”

Brenda – went to the site. Interesting. I didn’t sign up because I hope to be in C.R. Could you post the messages you get? Thanks

Ada!!! Sister, you have started my day off with a ROAR! I am ROTFLOL at your driving jokes! Best jokes I've heard (read) in a loooooong time! Keep it up and have a great day.

Ada,
I deleted my post, probably just when you typed the info. for me. When I reread it, I felt so stupid, because itchyfeet and tangolady both tried unsucessfully to help me with deleting attachments and senders' addresses. I am at work right now, checking the blogs during my brake. Will try C&P when I get home.

I have been deleted from RR's blog for a long time. Late at night a few days ago, I posted something on his 11/22 blog, to find it deleted, and the blog closed for further comments, by AM.
My post was in reference to the special facial cream Premarin mentioned by Vickie.
I'll repeat it here:
"There is only Premarin Vaginal Cream. I myself have used it for many years, by mixing a dab of it with my favorite moisturizer."
Premarin Vaginal Cream is only by prescription. But this way you are guarantied the amount of Estrogen in it. Over the counter Hormone creams, despite their high price, have too little, if any, hormone in them to do any good. Anything that actually works on any parts of our body has to be prescription, or at least start out as such. If deemed safe enough for the consumer to judge its usage, some "meds." become over the counter.

Gotta go... (on geezer patrol, lol)
Good day to all of you.
OOOXOOXOOO
Ellen

Q.: Any way to C&P me to Chicago?
ASAP?, please. Promise I'll bring a couple geezers from the Nursing Home with me.

Hey Ada. I'm cracking up too. But not just over the traffic jokes! First it was Hemorroid cream under our eyes ... now Premarin Vaginal Cream on our face!! What's a girl to do?!!! Sounds scary!

Actually - for many years I only used Vaseline Intensive Care on my face - under my makeup (which I always use something with sunscreen in it - because I am not supposed to get in the sun too much). I've always been told that I have great skin ... though I've now changed my regimen - and use primarily St. Ive's Swiss Formula products. They are great - especially the Cucumber Eye Gel!! : )

Hi Marty!! Actually - I got that link (the Master Key) from Belaflur - on Franny's site!! So no need to post it there. : ) But I wrote you a message on my Board (Great Escape) - so check it out!

So ... tomorrow is the day that our gal friends are meeting up in Chicago!! Wishing them safe travels and loads of fun!! I am so wishing I could be there!!

Have a good one Everyone!!

Leslie - Couln't get the site you recommended on the RR site. Glad you liked the jokes, esp. since weren't you the one who didn't want them? Brenda - you too. I was a bit worried that some would be offended. PLEASE, if there ever are any that do let me know & I will try to steer clear of that variety. (You can even post ANON.) ex. DU JOUR'S (R rated- content & lang.) but it is still in the driving theme. Anyone want to give me a new theme?

New Car Radio

I got a new car radio yesterday. It has voice recognition. You shout
"soul" ....and it searches for a soul station and starts playing soul music.
You shout "rock" and it plays rock and roll.

You shout "country" and it finds country music.

Some children ran in front of my car, causing me to swerve at the last
second.

I yelled out "F***ing kids".
Now... my radio is playing Michael Jackson.

Ellen- or anyone else: How do you delete a post? You aren't the anon who wanted me to follow my advice are you? I don't think I have your e-mail.
