Great Audio Post! What a nice way to start the day! I know I will be sitting at work and my toe will be tapping out the tune in my head!! (lol) I have dial-up so it did take a little while to down load, so if others have dial-up be patient it will pop up on the screen! Windy and warm today in the midwest, so I am happy with the November weather, that is for sure! Bun-Bun on the other hand, she loves the snow, (that's the only thing she and I disagree on...)Brenda, how about Grant Woods "American Gothic". I'll keep watching for it!! Have a Great Day Everyone!

Brenda,

I sent you an email with instructions on how to make a "live" link. Check the email attached to your blog.

Sunny in warm in Ohio!

If anyone gets a chance checkout the podcast of the Diane Ream show today on NPR. Her show at 10AM had a Historian on who was over 100, Dr. Franklin, talking about his view on American history and "diversity".

Love the Audio Post. "Uncle Bob" we call "Bobby D" at our house. Music history you know!

My computer at work will not do the audio thing, But I will hear it when I get home tonight, Love your new look!!!

glad you have your Blog here, Clickgirl, but the old one misses your congeniality, i don't have a clue, it used to be at these points that you would pop in and make everything alright!!!

Can't spell the song, I'm wanting to sing:
Kay serra, Serra
"Whatever will be, Will be!
"The future's not ours to see"

Someone will help me, that's the way this Blog has always worked!!!

I am still tapping my toes to the Bob Dylan Tune! I did run out at lunch time to take a photo of the huge piles of grain on the ground by the elevators! WIIINNNNDDDDDDDYYYYYYYYYYY!
babetteI love your pictures of Japan! And your website is awesome! I called NIACC for a continuing education class on webdesign...I think I am hooked! The class may not have enough people registered, so I may have to wait until the spring classes. Amazing all I am learning!

Brenda Brenda Brenda LOVE your new photo! And the song just takes me back to what seems like a simpler time. But, it wasn't. Hope you're keeping well and continuing on with the travel idea with Jackie. I, for one, am really hoping to be in on the first Mexico trip, never having been there before. TTFN

P.S. Hey Leslie! Welcome to the ‘Get slammed for nothing Club’!

FYI: ‘Merde’ = ‘Muck’ = mud, dirt or rubbish / A MUCK is a multi-user interactive virtual reality world. OK, that's too complex. A MUCK is a place you make a character on and pretend to be in a different place.

Hello Mona & Doris, Leslie, et al

I love it! Welcome to the "Get Slammed For Nothing Club." That's the greatest name I have heard yet for a new site. Instead of the NNBBSH it's the GSFNC. What a riot this has been observing all this petty wasting of time and energy.
B O R I N G...........life is far too short to be putting this much effort into such ado about nothing.

Brenda - Keep forgetting to tell you: XMAS, KWanza & Hannukkah are all on Dec 25th this year. Could this be the start of something good?

Joke (Poem) du Jour:

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING,
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP.
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS,
I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.
THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED -
THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE,
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION
WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT.
TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION,
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR,
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.
I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.
I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING,
FLOATING INTO THE SKY,
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING
AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL -
PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.
MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY,
MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY
HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS.
MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY
OFF OF YOUR THIGHS.
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING BE BLESSED!!

Names that you can click on and go to different topics of interest? I want to add a couple more pages, my next goal for the weekend! Any help much appreciated. Have a great day everyone!

Hi!

Wow - Harrison Ford. I like him too. Indiana Jones. I also think Michael Cine is pretty neat, though I'll never get a chance to talk to either of them - at least I don't think so! The best I am going to do today is the Tae Kwon Do instructor. He's 76, remember the Karate kid? same idea. history Library this afternoon. We're going to look at old newspapers to read about WWII.

Does anyone know when Stowe Vermont gets snow? We're thnking about a trip up East in the next couple of weeks.

Packed and ready to make that flight!!!! I will be leaving my home at 4:30 am to make my flight to visit Clickgirl!!!! It has been absolutely the best midwest fall in many years - so Florida is under the microscope!!! Actually, and Clickgirl does not even know this - Clearwater was my first wanderlust trip at 16 that my parents allowed me to go by myself to visit and stay with their friends. Those people were wonderful and took me to Tarpon Springs to see the sponges - ok Clickgirl .....I feel a memory coming on and I might ask you on early Sunday morning for a drive to
the Sponge Factory...and of course I did the beaches and took a bus to Walt DisneyWorld (all by myself - back then and I was 16 and had a wonderful time)and lots of other cool stuff - hey my first Red Lobster - Middle America back then did not even have a Red Lobster - any guesses to my age???? In any event, I was 16 and came home and told my parents - when I am old enough I am moving to Florida.... And I have been telling my parents for the last 32 years - everyplace I have ever visited....and/or lived.... when I come home from a trip...."that is where I am going to live"... and that is the true meaning of wanderlust!!!!! To me the magic of the moment, the adventure, the place - is truly priceless and the best of the best!!!!! And even after all these years,
(and I am still blessed to have both parents married 56 years - when I return home from a trip- I will always say - "that was the best and that is where I am moving" ....after so many years....now they just smile and say 'THAT WILL BE GREAT - WE WILL COME VISIT"

And so it goes, the fun ones really never grow up......we just keep boarding the next plane for the next great adventure.....lets have a fun fun fun weekend Clickgirl...

See you at the airport......J

Marty, "POOF" is a keyboard button! When we were in Toronto last we found a joke shop that had keyboard keys that you could use to replace keys on your computer keyboard. We had such a laugh with some of them. POOF was actually one of the key replacements. So were 4 letter keys, a**hole (pardon the language) and the nuke symbol. Somebody had a good time cooking those up! Wish I thought of it!

Hey Everyone ... glad that I could make you smile! : ) Did you love Doris? If you clicked her - you would notice that it was my face ... with her hair and eyes ... and puffed up lips. If I didn't know better ... I would think I was 'on' something. Ha Ha

Tonights pic is 'the real me' - in front of a 'real sunset' ... just not shot at the same time. : )

I've worked until 7pm the last couple of nights ... and have to get up early ... and then will be picking up Jackie from the Airport in the morning. We are going to have such a great time ... (and Jackie, count on Tarpon Springs!! I used to live 1/2 hour south of there! Anyway ... we'll be checking in from time to time ... so look for our Adventures!

Ya'll have fun now! : )

Beachingly yours,

Brenda & Jackie – have a wonderful weekend!

Marty, If you are for real I am sooo excited I get to tell someone how to do something in this blog (so many comput literates!):

Put cursor in front of what you want to C&P. Press down & move cursor to the end of what you want to C&P. It will get highlighted. Let go & it should still be highlighted.
Now 2 choices:
1)Go to Edit & scroll down to copy & hit it. Go to place you want to copy to & place cursor there. Go to Edit & scroll down to paste & hit it. What you wanted should appear.

2) Put cursor in front of what you want to C&P. Press down & move cursor to the end of what you want to C&P. It will get highlighted. Let go & it should still be highlighted.
Hit Ctrl button & “c” key. Go to place you want to copy to & place cursor there. Hit Ctrl button & “v” key. What you wanted should appear. Notice under edit, it says that across from Copy and Paste. Good luck. This is one of the easiest & best things on the computer.

For you H.F. fans: He seems to be taken with Calista Flockhart (that name sounds like a fart on steroids!) My friend knew him when they both were at Rippin College in Wisc. She said he was very nice. Hopefully he is still that way if Hollywood didn't go to his head. Although a very skinny & young girlfriend seems to say Hollywood. He is 60+.
We should have a pool where we bet on the Selected Six. What should be the prize?

Anyone interested in going to Canyon Ranch, Tuscon, AZ? I am thinking of going Dec. 5-9th. Also looks like my Global Volunteers trip to Costa Rica will be Jan.14th. Still looking for a roommate.

I AM BACK LADIES!
MY CABLE CAME BACK ON LAST NIGHT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. I FEEL LIKE I LIVE IN A WAR ZONE DOWN HERE. BUT DAY BY DAY THINGS ARE IMPROVING DOWN HERE.
PLEASE MAKE ME STAY HOME SOMEONE! EVERY TIME I GO SOMEWHERE I COME HOME TO A HURRICANE.
NOW IF I CAN JUST GET MY BLOOD PRESSURE DOWN, THAT MIGHT HELP.
HAVE AN AWESOME DAY EVERYONE. I AM GOING FOR A WALK ON THE BEACH.

Every night I think, o.k. been reading during the day so tonight will be short. WRONG always. Went to Francessca’s to find out the scoop re Vanessa. - 2 hours later:

Vanessa – Why didn’t you stay at the Ayers?
Punctuality is one of my weakest features but… Hello, people have cell phones today. Why didn’t he/someone call just to find out if you were o.k.? Re: losing 3 women? What or how did the other 2 say/feel? When traveling, if you were in a 3rd world market & were separated… this would scare me.

From the beginning: Another one for the gut. Oh gut, you never fail me.

Vanessa call me – on your way back home, come to horse country – Maryland. I will welcome you like a guest, but make you feel like family.

Amy – You too. If you can wait until the 1st weekend in May: We have the Sheep & Wool Festival where you can learn all about alpacas, lamas etc. for free. I go every year though unfortunately it is the same weekend as the Film Festival. Others said they might consider coming. Maybe this could be our East coast version of the “Stoolies” since no one responded to my suggestion of a Miss. River cruise. Also my music composer daughter’s day job is at NPR. She loves it. Last week worked on the interview with the guy who got the U.S. rights for March of the Penguins. She always has neat stories to tell.
Farmers Only . Com is a hoot.

Carol – Welcome back to the living. Amazing what we take for granted until it is taken away.

Wanda – Didn’t know you were N.A. My friend’s grandson calls me MANY COLORED WOMAN. It is such a perfect name for me. Glad the “roots are being taken care of” (teeth & your heart felt feelings)

Marty – I just assumed I was the booby prize winner among these comput. savvy women. When I got my MA they said to be in the program you had to know or take a comput. class. I said great. I thought they would say “Take the shrink wrap off the box, open it, plug it in…etc.” Instead I was taught Pagemaker on an Apple. Therefore it’s like I was taught to x & divide without learning to + or subtract. Plus I am a very slow learner. I am totally understanding of your situation & supportive. Did the info help? One suggestion when you take the class: If you have a laptop, ask if you can bring it to class. It’s hard to learn on 1 computer & then go to another. Good Luck. The JOKE DU JOUR is for you.

The little boy asks:Daddy, how was I born?
DAD SAYS:
Ah, my son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! Well, you see your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on MSN.
Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe.We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a blessed little Popup appeared and said:

You've Got Male!

I saw this couple perform Fri. night (10/28). If you get a chance - they are in the D.C. but have traveled to most of the U.S. states & Europe- go see them. As it turns out, Maura graduated from my alma mammy, Ithaca College, where she studied voice.

They do a wide range of styles: Besides the folk, pop, rock, country and "secular gospel", whatever that is, they even did Bach,. Married, they are married on stage as well. By that I mean, they read each other as couples do. They are warm, personable & a charming couple and funny: Maura said she wrote a haiku.
THIS IS POLITICAL - Don't know if we can put polit stuff on here. If this is a non let me know. If offending anyone Sorry, but for now SKIP to end of poems + next para.
Scooter Libby,
Tom Delay,
Karl Rove
Hope the prison menu is good

Then it was Pete's turn
Get on your Scooter
Begin to Rove without Delay
Watch out for the Bush.

And then apologized to the whole administration & played I Fear You Must Be Going.

They write much of their own songs but what impressed me the most was their guitar playing. Pete also plays the electric sitar. It is phenomenal. I have never heard that kind of virtuosity on those instruments, (including Bach who must be positively rolling positively in his grave). Sometimes they do duets on one guitar.

The concert went from 8-10:30.The opening act was good too but I'm not sure of her name: something like Lisa Carlisle. Because of the small venue, they were able to mingle before, during intermission, & after the concert talking to people & seeming interested in everyone there. The website is www.kennedysmusic.com.
